Summer is on the way. Today we had the first true day of 'Miyako Blue' this year. The sky is becoming a deeper blue, the sunlight is strong so the color of the ocean is wonderful, and puffy white summer clouds have appeared.
Yes, I live on an island, but 'no' I do not live in a resort! (If I were rich, I might stay at my favorite resort sometimes ...). Luckily, Miyako-jima is small so today between teaching lessons and doing other work, I could drive less than 10 minutes to the coast and enjoy a 'tea break' looking at the ocean.
I think it is really important to appreciate what we have around us. There is beauty everywhere - of course in big cities, too. I know, I used to live in Tokyo which is one of the biggest and busiest cities on earth. If you can, just look out the windows at the sky - every glance at the sky can never, ever be repeated as the sky changes minute by minute, day by day.
Or if you have a chance, plant a flower. Roses won't grow well in Miyako, and tulips won't grow at all. But this most wonderful red hibiscus is right behind my car parking space :)
